KAPMI, the Korattur Aeri Padukappu Makkal Iyakkam, is a grassroots movement formed in 2018 by late Mr. P. Sundararaman, Mr. S. sekharan, Mr. Hariharan, Mr. R. Gunasekaran, Mr. Sivarama Krishnan, Mr. Dillibabu with a profound mission to protect and preserve the majestic Korattur Lake, spanning nearly 600 acres in Chennai, India. This collective effort is driven by local communities deeply connected to the lake's ecosystem.

Korattur Lake is a vital habitat supporting livelihoods of fishermen and a thriving biodiversity hotspot. The lake attracts approximately 150 varieties of birds, including migratory species, making it a significant ecological treasure. KAPMI's endeavors focus on safeguarding this wetland's health against encroachments, pollution, and unsustainable practices.

Through community engagement, KAPMI strives to restore and maintain the lake's natural balance, benefiting both local inhabitants and the rich avifauna it shelters.
